Through this timeline you have learnt about the development and history of the XJ-S and with its distinctive design it came to be one of the bestselling Jaguars of all time. But we love to share the stories of the people who designed, developed and simply loved this unique grand tourer.
For our 50th Anniversary Celebration we invited our friend Wayne Scott and the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club to interview those who had the privilege to work on the XJ-S. We interviewed the following guests:
Barrie Thrussell– a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust board member who has worked more than 50 years in the industry. Barrie was in charge of dealer training and quality at Jaguar during the XJ-S launch era and shares some fascinating insights.
Nick Hull– worked as a designer on the team that created the facelift to the XJ-S in the 1990s. Nick is a mine of information on car design, so he provides us with an insight into the entire XJ-S design story.
Allan Scott – Head of Engine Development at TWR and responsible for the success of the XJ-S winning the European Touring Car Championship.
Ed Abbott – worked as a Development Test Driver for Norman Dewis on the XJ-S programme. Ed went on to enjoy a superb career in motor racing and was responsible for homologating the XJ-S as a rally car and subsequently built one for tarmac rally stages.
