OOM 555R is a very early one XJ-S, the 154th right-hand drive car built. It was part of the British Leyland display at the 1975 London Motor Show at Earls Court and shared the stage with a TR7, Princess and Allegro Estate, all were finished in a special metallic gold paint with Sorrel trim. After use as a show car, it was kept as part of the British Leyland Historic Vehicle collection and displayed in the Browns Lane showroom.
It was registered in 1977 to possibly participate in a display of historic and current Coventry built vehicles when the Queen visited Coventry as part of a nationwide tour for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, whence the Silver Jubilee crest on the doors.
When the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust was formed in 1983, ownership was transferred from BL Historic Trust.
