1996: As True as Coventry Blue is preserved for the nation
April
The last Jaguar XJS Convertible and Coupé models rolled off the production line at Jaguar’s former Browns Lane assembly plant on Thursday 4th April 1996. The completion of the Signal Red, six-cylinder Celebration Convertible and the Ice Blue V12 Coupé brought to a close a remarkable production run that spanned 21 years during which 115,556 of these grand touring cars were produced. Symbolically, the very last XJS was as true as Coventry Blue. Both of these cars went straight into the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Collection to be preserved for everyone to enjoy and remember the unique part the XJS played within Jaguar Cars illustrious history.
